Therefore, while I heartily agree with Dr.Hollicks contention that the mechanical structure of the soilis the most potent factor in the distribution of plants, I fail toappreciate the importance of tension in the vegetation of thiszone. To me it seems to be a division of the coastal plain ofequal rank with the Pine Barren
