(Gray News) - A recall impacts a popular meat product sold in stores across the country.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has recalled some charcuterie meat products containing coppa on Monday because the food was potentially under-processed and could contain pathogens.

Fratelli Beretta, a New Jersey-based company, produces the ready-to-eat meat packages.

The products subject to recall are listed under the brand names Aldi, Beretta, Black Bear, Busetto, Culinary Tour, Dietz and Watson, Lidl, Publix and Salumi Artigianali.

The affected products bear the establishment number “EST. M47967 or M7543B” inside the USDA mark of inspection or in inkjet print on the front of the package. The USDA has listed all the products being recalled.

The packages were distributed to stores across the country such as Aldi’s, Publix, Costco, and Sam’s Club.

Authorities issued the recall after a sample tested positive for salmonella.

The USDA said further testing is needed to determine if this product is related to an ongoing multistate outbreak of salmonella.

Food contaminated with salmonella can cause salmonellosis, one of the most common bacterial foodborne illnesses, the most common symptoms of which are diarrhea, abdominal cramps and fever within six hours to six days after eating contaminated food.

The illness usually persists for four to seven days, though older people, infants and people with weakened immune systems could experience more severe illnesses.

The USDA is urging consumers and businesses to throw away any packages or return them for a refund.

Anyone concerned about an illness related to this product should contact their healthcare provider.
