Found in Zimbabwe, Cape Province, Natal and Transvaal South Africa in evergreen forests at elevations of 1700 to 2000 meters as a minature to small sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial with obovoid, woolly tubers giving rise to an erect stem carrying 2, alternate, lower larger, upper smaller, ovate, cordate basally, often marbled with white on top and dark purple beneath leaves that blooms in the late spring and early summer on an erect, 1 to 3 flowered inflorescence
