Our latest project for Amazon is getting some great press. Thank you to all the contributors who made this outstanding project what it is!
#AmazonSonic is featured in GeekWire, The Seattle Times, The Registry, and 425 Business! This Vulcan Real Estate development marks a significant step in user-focused #workplacedesign, emphasizing teamwork while offering a range of working postures to support individual preferences. "What we're hearing is enthusiasm about the ability to connect and collaborate with one another, and the different types of spaces for different types of work," says Gina Klem, Amazon's Global Real Estate and Facilities Director. Workplace experts in SABA+BA's #Seattle studio focused on crafting a journey within the building to inspire users and infuse warmth into the space. The building centers on an activity-based approach that provides a variety of spaces—from collaborative social areas to heads-down workspaces for focused, individual work to restorative spaces where colleagues can meet over coffee or a snack at one of the refreshment areas designed in collaboration with E15 Group. At the heart of the workplace are spaces for dedicated teamwork. Bookable team suites feature zones with different seating postures that allow employees to seamlessly transition from heads-down work and small breakout discussions to larger group conversations and brainstorming, from whiteboarding and problem-solving to a formal presentation or document review. The design team collaborated with Splice to curate soft seating, writable surfaces, and desks to create zones that flex to each team's needs. The project features installations, original artwork, and environmental graphics crafted by House of Sorcery, which serve as the backbone narrative of the #userjourney, uniting a whimsical array of mythical creatures and iconography specific to the Pacific Northwest. Site Workshop Landscape Architecture curated native plant installations—sculptural planters integrate seamlessly with seating, stair features, and respite areas, providing spatial separation, privacy screening, and sensory comfort. Workplace floors include a variety of plants in social and desk areas, further infusing #biophilia throughout the building. Thoughtful lighting designed with LUMA Lighting Design integrates large-scale sculptural moves and smaller installations that emphasize context within the various moods of the built environment.
