Subwassertang in German terms translates "freshwater seaweed." Subwassertang is a free-floating aquatic plant that is popular amongst aquarium hobbyists given that it's adaptive to a wide range of parameters. It is slow-growing in the beginning but once it settles, it will grow well-paced and will provide natural coverage for fish fry and shrimps.

Its benefits include:

- Promotes oxygen-rich water
- Provides shelter for fish fry and shrimps
- Creates natural feeding ground for shrimps and reduces stress by providing more shelter surface space
