'Watermelon' variety, Vista, California

This is a variable stemless, usually solitary species from southern Africa (including South Africa). There are two 'official' varieties, but again I am not 100% clear on what the characteristics are for telling them apart. In addition, there are some flower colors that have cultivational names paying note to their uniqueness. It is a very colorful plant, even without the flowers, having very pale leaves that blush a variety of colors from pinks, reds, turquoise, pale or deep greens and light browns. Leaves arch upward and then back out, almost like they were forming a vase. Flowers range from red to pink to yellow to bright orange, always in winter.
