Author: Francois Pierre Chaumeton (1775-1819) was assisted in this work by J. Chambaret and J. Poiret. Pierre-Jean-Francois Turpin (1775-1840) is considered by many as the greatest French botanical painter of his time. His drawings of botanical details have rarely been surpassed. He co-operated and was inspired by the botanical painter Poiteau (1776-1854). Turpin and Panckoucke were was students of the famous Redoute.Reference: William Blunt (1950) pp 180 ; Great Flower Books (1990) pp 87; Nissen pp 349. Condition: very good, given age. He holds shop in Overasselt, a small town on the Maas river near Nijmegen, The Netherlands, which can be visited by appointment. He is a member of the Dutch Association of Antiquarians (NVVA) and the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB).
