Engraving with original hand colour.47x36 cms.Ample margins. the scene belongs to an Attic column-krater nowadays at the British Museum. The vase was part of the hamilton collection assembled during his office at Naples like British envoy.Hancarville was in charge to drawing and catalogue the vases that were sold to the British museum in 1772. The set in 4 volumes was highly influential in the architecture, painting and decorative arts of the Neoclassical period in Europe introducing the greekaesthetic joint with Stuart and Revett s Antiquities of Athens.
