Madagascar Plum (Flacourtia indica):

Botanical Name: Flacourtia Indica

Common Names: Madagascar Plum, Indian Plum, Ramontchi, Governor's Plum

General Information: Native to tropical Africa, Madagascar, India, Sri Lanka, Indo-china, Indonesia, and China. Large shrub or small tree, Deep red acid fruits resembling small plums, Pome fruit, an inch thick, scarlet, turning purple when ripe, 6 to 10 seeds in stacked carpels. Highly meaty pulp, delicious with an acidic tang, can be yellow or white.

The tree is easy to grow, self-fertile and doesn't require much care, not as particular about soil and very versatile in terms of watering.
