Wildflower series ~ Pentanisia angustifolia
Pentanisia angustifolia is another plant with huge underground roots. It is closely related to another plant that is used medicinally although nothing is known about the compounds it contains. In Afrikaans, it is called "sooibrandbossie", alluding to the fact that it is used to treat heartburn and in isiZulu, it is called icimamlilo, meaning putting out the fire which also suggests it's use to relieve heartburn. I am not sure whether this plant could have the same use, perhaps I should grow some to see whether the tubers are the same.
There are actually a whole lot of plants I can't identify in this picture, I will have to wait and see when they are when they flower.
I'm starting to wonder where all these flowers come from Nikv.. Some sort of flower lady!
They come from the hill behind my house. I was amazed to find that many growing in the grass

I spent enough years looking at those, too. That can be quite entertaining in its own way ;)

These plants somehow remind me of field chamomiles, which are widely used for medical purposes.

I really like your wild flowers series! This makes me more aware of the small flowers by the river bank here! I am going to hunt fir some wild flowers too!
