    Description
    Global description

Sida urens is an erect, branched plant, completely covered with hirsute hair, annual to multiannual, can reach up to 1 m high. The leaves simple and alternate are ovate with cordate and long-acuminate base and serrated margin. They are covered on two sides with simple and stellate hairs. The pale yellow flowers are solitary or grouped in fascicles, in axillary or terminal position. The fruit is composed with 5 mericarps with large curved beak and each containing a dark brown seed.

    Cotyledons

The cotyledons have a densely bristling petiole. It measures 1.5 to 2 cm long and exceeds the lamina. The lamina is oval, trinervate-palmate, glabrous, with ciliated margin. It measures 7 to 9 mm long and 5-6 mm wide.

    First leaves

The first leaves are rounded, truncate then cordate at the base, crenate-serrated margin ciliated with many stellate hairs. The two sides are covered with stellated hairs.

    General habit

Plant erect, branched as from the base, annual to multiannual, can reach up to 1 m high.

    Underground system

    Taproot system.

    Stem

The stem is cylindrical section, pubescent (erect hairs, golden very short hairs, a few stellate hairs).

    Leaf

The leaves are simple and alternate. The petiole is framed by hirsute stipules, linear to filiform of 5 to 7 mm long. The petiole, of 2 to 5 cm long is covered with erect hair. The lamina is oval, with cordiform base, progressively tapering into a sharp point ends, measuring 5-10 cm long and 3-7 cm wide. The margin is crenate-serrated. The two sides are covered with a dense pubescence of long simple hairs mixed with stellate hairs. Venation is palmate.

    Inflorescence

Flowers, whitish to pale yellow, are solitary or grouped by 2-10 in axillary or terminal fascicles. Flower stalks are hirsute. They measure 1 to 3 cm long.

    Fruit

The fruit is composed of 5 mericarps with smooth cover and top in a wide and curved beak.

    Seed

Each mericarp contains only one dark brown seed, measuring 1.5 mm wide and 2 mm high.
