    Global description

Digitaria longiflora is a stoloniferous perennial herb, in upright spreading tufts, rooting at the nodes, 10 to 60 cm high. Fibrous roots, white or brown. Cylindrical, pubescent stems. Leaves simple alternating spiral, linear to lanceolate of about 4-10 cm x 0.7 cm. The sheath is hairless and the ligule membranous. The inflorescence is composed of 2 to 3 digitate racemes . The spikelets are tiny on tapered rachis. The fruit is a caryopsis.

    The pre-foliaison is rolled up.

    General habit

Stoloniferous perennial herb, in upright spreading tufts, 10 to 60 cm high.

    Culm

Culmis cylindrical. The base of the culm spreads out on the ground and takes root at the nodes.

    Leaf

The leaves are simple, alternating spiral. The blade is linear to lanceolate, 1 to 9 cm long and 1 to 5 mm wide. The sheath is hairless or shaggy and the ligule membranous. The faces are glabrous or hairy.

    Inflorescence

The inflorescence is composed of 2 to 4 linear digitate racemes, 3 to 6 cm (10 cm) long with a flat rachis. Spikelets in groups of 3 rather irregularly arranged.

    Spikelet

Spikelets are elliptical, hairless or finely pubescent, 1.2 to 1.6 mm long with an acute apex. Lower sub-null lower glume, upper glume the length of the spikelet.
