Shrub or small tree, up to 3 m high; branches brownish pubescent, older branches 4-angled. Leaves green and with scattered hairs above, pale green and with scattered hairs or pubescent below; petiole 2–6 mm long, pubescent; blade ovate-oblong to broadly elliptic 3.5–7.5(–10) x 2.5–5 cm, obtuse or acute to acuminate at the apex, truncate to subcordate at the base, with serrate margin. Inflorescences brownish hairy, 2–5 together, each 1–2.5 cm long and 3-flowered; peduncle 0–4 mm long; pedicel 1–4 mm long. Sepals elliptic, 15–20 mm long. Petals yellow, ± oblong, 10–13 mm long, producing a ledge with a basal nectar-producing claw, 2.5–3 mm long. Ovary 2-celled with 14–20 ovules in each cell; style with 4 subulate stigma-lobes. Fruit unlobed, 10–17 mm in diam., sparsely setose and covered with wart-like protuberances; stone rugose with pits, the pits being covered by whitish parenchymatous tissue.
