Bog Rush is an evergreen, wetland species. It can tolerate a fair amount of shade. In June or July, it develops interesting reddish-brown seed capsules that contain many, very tiny seeds. The root system is rhizomatous and can form plant colonies. Also known as "two-flowered rush," this plant would do well along the shoreline of ponds and in wet meadows. Other than ample moisture, bog rush isn't terribly particular about its soil; it is partial to acidic, loamy, clay soil.
