Abstract
Sarcostigma kleinii Wight & Arn. belongs to the family Icacinaceae, and it is a straggling shrub, a perennial large liana with many ayurvedic medicinal properties and a climber and a type of lianas found in almost all districts of Kerala. There is much scope for improving the growth forms of wild edible by using modern agronomic research and experimental cytological studies. This plant is not subjected to any kind of synthesis processes, so we have to conserve the plant for further investigations and also have to protect the habitat of the plant. Thorough fieldwork and critical ethnobotanical observations are very necessary regarding this plant.
