The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is expanding a recall of certain charcuterie meat products as the number of Salmonella cases continues to rise.

The CDC previously sent out an alert about Fratelli Beretta USA, Inc. recalling over 11,000 pounds of ready-to-eat charcuterie trays sold at Sam's Club under Busseto Foods as a sampler with prosciutto, sweet soppressata and dry coppa.

Now the recall includes Fratelli Beretta brand Antipasto Gran Beretta products sold at Costco that also come in a 9-ounce twin pack. These include black pepper-coated dry salami, Italian dry salami, dry coppa and prosciutto.

Health officials warn consumers and retailers not to eat, serve or sell any lots of the products, as they may be contaminated with Salmonella.

So far, 47 people have been sickened and 10 have been hospitalized. No one has died.

The affected states include Oregon, Idaho, Washington state, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, Texas, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Jersey, Maryland and Connecticut.

Officials said investigators are trying to determine if any additional products have been contaminated.

According to the CDC, Salmonella symptoms include diarrhea, fever and stomach cramps. Consumers are urged to throw away the recalled products or return them to the place of purchase.
