Softly hispid prostrate herbs. Leaves opposite, distichous, 2-7 x 2-4 mm, oblong or suborbicular, base obliquely cordate, margin serrulate, apex obtuse, 1-nerved, subsessile. Cyathia in axillary clusters. Involucre campanulate, c. 8 mm long; glands 4. Male flowers 1-4, ebracteolate. Female laterally pendulous; ovary tomentose; style 3-forked from base. Capsule c. 2 mm across, obtusely angled, glabrescent. Seeds 4-angular, minutely tuberculate, red.

Morphology
Annual prostrate herb, covering area prostrately 13-33 x 5-16 cm; root white, hard, straight vertically ca.8 cm long and 0.2 cm in diameter; stem hispidly pubescent, brown to reddish, 0.1 cm in diameter; leaves opposite, lamina 0.6-0.8 x 0.3-0.6 cm, short petioled, 0.1 cm long, obovate, sub-orbicular, assymetrical at the base, pubescent beneath, with shiny hairs, margin of leaves is with reddish-pink colouration, mature leaf having pink-red colour at the base of lamina; stipules 2, membranous, triangular, serrete, arising from node; involucre minute, 0.1 cm long, axillary in the crowded terminal branchlet; glands 4, red-pink, very minute; capsule 0.1 x 0.1 cm, reddish, errect, obtusely keeled pubescent; style 6, persistant, light green, connate at base; seeds 3 in each capsule, 0.08 cm long, red on maturity with some furrow line.

The milky latex is used to cure ringworm by Bodo tribe. The bruised fresh plant is applied to wounds. Leaves and seeds are used in childrens’ bowel affection and in worm cases.Mixed juice of the plant with fresh goat milk is used for curing of blood dysentery. Amenorrhea is cured by using roots.
