GURU (dark) Patchouli (Pogostemon Cablin) Known for its musky aroma, Patchouli is used in many, many perfume bases and famous perfumes.  It has wonderful grounding properties to help balance emotions to help ease stress, anxiety and depression.  Diffuse by putting 10 or more drops in your diffuser depending on the size of your diffuser. Dab a tiny amount on those fine lines and wrinkles before moisturizing as Patchouli is great for skin.  Patchouli can help with acne issues, eczema, and dandruff.  It's a relaxing oil and may aid in restful sleep as well as earthy oil for meditation and yoga.  This is a very sensual oil as well.  Apply Patchouli on pulse points---wrists, back of neck, base of spine and even bottoms of the feet for restful slumber. Apply a tiny amount on fine lines and wrinkles. Use as a natural perfume.  Patchouli ages well like fine wine.  The longer you wear it, the more intoxicating the aroma...  (before applying to skin, dilute with a carrier oil)

HISTORY | Patchouli was first harvested by the Tamil people of South India, and was used primarily as an insect repellent.  Centuries later, Patchouli found its way on the silk trade route and it's said that Napoleon first introduced this captivating scent to Europe.  Then Patchouli was introduced to the cosmetic industry where perfumeries use it as a base for many perfumes used today.  The 60's and 70's, of course, is where most of us remember this alluring scent.  Hippies used Patchouli to mask the smell of another plant that was widely used in that era.  Patchouli was the favorite scent of the Flower Child.
