Description

Coccoloba uvifera is found in very humid areas on the Caribbean coast, in sandy or rocky dunes and coastal vegetation. The fruit is edible, with an acid taste, somewhat astringent. Febrifuge properties are attributed to the bark. In the West Indies, the fruit has been fermented with sugar to produce an alcoholic beverage.
