Salacia (Goddess of the Ocean)

This mixed media work is bordered by handmade tiles that give the work a mythical aura. It is full of vibrant tangerine tones and ocean water blues. Into this palette, texture was built up and given a burnt wash to develop a contrast between what is and what once was. It represents the environmental crisis happening at the U.S. and Tijuana, Mexico border that is causing the death of Salacia’s kingdom.
