was given this name by Nicholas Edward Brown in 1901. It is found in
Eswatini, Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania,
Zimbabwe and Mpumalanga
and KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa, growing in
sand and other well drained soil with some water and some sun. The caudex can grow to
five centimetres in diameter, the entire plant
to 50 centimetres in height. The flowers are white.
The genera name from Greek gony;
gonatos, 'knee', and Greek pous; 'foot', for the swellings
(nodes) on the leaf stalks. The species name; angustus:
narrow; referring to the narrow leaf divisions. |
