This member of the Amaryllidaceae family was
given this name by Hamilton
Paul Traub in 1969. It is found in southern South
Africa, growing in a rich but drained soil with some water and lots
of sun. The bulb can grow to six centimetres, the plant up to
30 centimetres, and the flowers are pinkish red to red.
The genera name from Greek;
Kyrtos; 'curved' and Greek; anthos; 'flower' for the curved flower
tube. The species name means 'tall'. |
