Common Name The Yellow Purple Eulophia - The Pale Ground Orchid

Found in Sudan, Ethiopia, Chad, Benin, Ghana, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Togo, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Zaire, Congo, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, Angola, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe in seasonally wet grasslands, dambos and swampy grasslands at elevations of 480 to 1300 meters as a large sized, hot to cool growing terrestrial with subteranean, irregular shaped tubers giving rise to 3 to 4, linear, acuminate, grass-like leaves that are absent or just emerging at blooming which is in the late spring on an erect, usually provided with 3 to 4 scarious bracts, laxly 1 to 8 flowered inflorescence with carious, spreading, linear, acuminate floral bracts
