Pentodon algerinum dispar Baudi, 1870

Among the genus Pentodon species, P.algerinum Herbst, 1789 can be recognized having: apex of clypeus not rounded but with 2 teeth, frons with one tubercle, elytra shining or if rarely oily, pygidium simply convex.

Four subspecies are known: P.algerinum algerinum, P.algerinum bispinifrons Reitter, 1894, P.algerinum indicus and P.algerinum dispar.

The subspecies P.algerinum dispar has: frontal suture mostly very fine but reaching sides and sides of paramera mostly more curved with triangular outer angle of apices mostly very sharp (from Endroedi). It is distributed in Turkey, Cyprus, Syria, Armenia, Iraq, Arabia, Jordan, Israel and Palestine. P.syriacus Kraatz, 1882 is its jounior synonymus.
