The same family as Hibiscus but hardy!! Malope trifida ‘Alba’ has pure white flowers and fresh green foliage. A must for floristry, the unusual shape gives interest to bouquets and arrangements.

In the garden the display is dramatic, and at dusk it appears to glow in the sunlight .

Provide support to protect plants from heavy rain showers.

Malope trifida ‘Alba’ flowers are edible, perfect for the flower farmer who is asked weekly about edible flowers for cakes and cheese boards, they also make salads look very fancy!

Note: Protect seeds and seedlings from mice, rodents think they are tasty too!

How to grow: 

Plants grow too quickly from an autumn sowing and dislike languishing in cold compost trays so we will delay sowing until late winter when the light levels return.

Sow one seed per cell. Cover seeds lightly with compost.

Cutting /Vase Life:

Picked as soon as the flowers start to open, straight into ready buckets of water. We rest our stems for a few hours in water, this is called conditioning. Remove any fading flowers from the stems as new blooms open and refresh water for maximum vase life of 7-10 days.
