Cerinthe Major (Pride of Gibraltar)

Cerinthe Major

All our seed is from the latest harvest and super fresh.

Also known as “Honeywort”, Cerinthe major just glows in the spring garden. One of the first to bloom and one of the most commented on through our Instagram stories.

Graceful blue, purple bells hang from arching silvery, green, grey foliage.

How to grow:

Seeds are large, its best to sow straight into 15 cell trays (6.5cm cells size) or into 9cm pots, if that’s easier.

Seeds have a hard seed coat, like sweet peas, you can soak them for a few hours before sowing, to aid germination, but this is not essential.

Sow seeds roughly 1cm deep, just deep enough to block out the light.

Seeds also prefer a bit of warmth for germination, around 18C is ideal. Sowing early in Autumn, an unheated greenhouse, in plenty of sunshine is naturally warm enough.

Seeds for the grow-a-long are very fresh, you might even find that germination produces twin seedlings.
