Agrostemma ‘Ocean Pearl’

Description

Agrostemma ‘Ocean Pearl’

Agrostemma githago

All our seed is from the latest harvest and super fresh.

I have been looking for an easy to grow flower to go with the Sweet Rocket and Orlaya grandiflora but with bigger petals to give a completely new shape to the Spring vase.

I have found it!

I know you will love growing Agrostemma  and ‘Ocean Pearl’ I have found is the best white!

Sow it in the Autumn for flowers from May or Late Winter for flowers from June, both sowings are well worth doing and give a succession of fresh flower harvests.

Note: All parts of this plant are poisonous, including the seeds. Exercise caution around children and pets.

How to grow:
Sow seed into modules in Autumn and/or Late Winter, leave uncovered, light aids germination.

Agrostemma produces abundant foliage so keep an eye on watering as we near planting out time as cells will dry out faster than some other plants. Plants are tall and graceful, provide support early on to protect them from being knocked over in heavy spring rain showers.

For the longest vase life cut when flowers are newly open as once pollinated flowers lose their petals faster than unpollinated blooms.  For fresh flowers, place straight into buckets of clean fresh water and leave them to rest for at least a few hours, this is called conditioning.
