A true showstopper for any landscape! Dombeya puts on one of the best flower displays of any shrub. Known as the tropical hydrangea or tropical snowball, the genus contains a few hundred species of plants that are native to tropical Africa and Madagascar. Dombeya is an evergreen shrub or small tree with clusters of flowers that are pink to rose color and long-lasting bloom from fall to spring. The flowers attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, making this a "must-have" wildlife plant for my garden.

Dombeya Seminole grows 7 feet tall and about the same in width. It can be kept to about 5 feet tall with pruning.

Dombeya grows best with full sun. Indoors, try to give them as much light as possible, especially during the flowering period, which is in winter for the most popular species.

The more sun, the fuller the shrub, and that also encourage the maximum number of flowers.
