Description

Annual or biennial on cultivated land and waste places. A rough, hairy plant with red splashes on the stem formed by fine red hairs.

Flowers

The flowers are yellow with four notched petals.

Leaves

Pinnately lobed leaf with lobes both sides of a central midrib. Lower leaves: lobes along central midrib.
Upper leaves: not lobed, toothed or not.

Fruits Seeds

Silique: two fused carpels, square, with toothed wings when ripe, splitting into parts, 10-22 mm.

Edible

Leaves and flowers: raw or cooked.
