Description

Deciduous, in spring the leaves and the flowers appear at the same time on the shrub. The fruit appears in June.

Flowers

The 5-petalled flowers, star-shaped with numerous stamens, are grouped in flat, rounded heads.

Leaves

Elliptic oval leaf. Oval, underside of the leaf is white and hairy. In autumn the leaves turn copper-purple.

Fruits Seeds

Pome: a blue/black, fleshy enlarged receptacle with a tough central core containing seeds, 0.8-1 cm long.

Edible

Fruit: sweet and juicy.
