A small Lily with usually only 1 broadly funnel-shaped, whitish flower that blooms at top of a stem about as tall as the very narrow basal leaves.
Of the 10 or 12 species in the genus, this is the only native one; the rest are Eurasian.

Native Habitat: Gravelly ridges and in rock crevices high in the mountains.
