Weed library - Galenia (Galenia pubescens)


Galenia (also Known as Carpet Weed), is a deep rooted perennial herb that is both drought and salt tolerant.

Galenia can be found on roadsides, stony flats and in natural vegetation areas. It forms a dense mat on the ground smothering existing vegetation. 

Galenia is a hard to control weed which may require follow up treatments

When using Gusto in a Hand Gun Application:


Spray to thoroughly wet all the foliage but not to cause run off
  • Handgun: 2000lt of spray mixture/ha
  • Knapsack: 2lt of spray mixture/10m2

  • Spray fresh growth in the spring and Summer
  • Spray the Galenia when the plant is actively growing
  • Tank mix with Holdfast Wetting Agent and Penetrant to improve control

  • DO NOT spray when the plant is stressed (i.e. Drought, physical damage, insect damage etc)
