Coddia makes the most delightful focal point at the back of a lightly shaded bed, or as a stand-alone shrub. Growth form is unusual, and attracts attention; multiple stiff, arching branches grow initially upwards and outwards before curving back down again. Leaves are tiny, mid- to dark green, with slightly wavy margins. They grow in clusters along the stem. From August to March, pale yellow funnel-shaped flowers grow from leaf axils. They're small (10 - 15 mm) with lobes shorter than the tube and tend to hang down, often not noticeable until you get up close. They fade to white with age. In full flower, it is a beauty. Brown fruits follow from January to June, small and round and eaten by birds. The pale grey bark shows up well in shady situations.
