Acaena caesiiglauca is an herbaceous perennial that forms a showy mat of lacy, grey-blue foliage. This impressive NZ native grows to just 15 cm tall but will spread to 50 cm in diameter. Green coloured flowers in summer result in copper-red burrs which provide another interesting element to this plant. It thrives in exposed positions and poor soil conditions where other plants will struggle but does require good drainage and moisture during dry periods. It is tolerant of moderate frost as well as coastal conditions. This plant is commonly used in rock gardens, planted between paving stones, or included in borders. A mass planting will give a spectacular display.
