In the warmer months of the year appear the 4 inch wide sweetly fragrant flowers, often in pairs at the leaf base.

The sweet, ovoid, orange-yellow fruits are eaten raw or made into juices, desserts, and flavorings. The very aromatic sweet pulp is the edible part and contains vitamins A, C, and K, phosphorus, iron, and calcium. It is also high in fiber like pectin that can make you feel full without increasing the calorie intake. Overall it’s rich in beneficial plant compounds, including carotenoids and polyphenols.
