This annual poppy produces bluish green foliage and pink flowers. It is widely popular as an ornamental but the seeds are also used for baking and to produce oil. The plant's white, milky sap contains 40 different alkaloids, most notably morphine, many of them used medicinally since antiquity. This productive variety with a low morphine content is ideally suited for the production of seeds for baked goods.
