Clouds of glistening white flowers over nearly flat carpets of trifoliate deep green leaves in spring. Evergreen groundcover for shade. 15cm. Average to good soil.
The low carpets of tough leaves make an excellent, compact evergreen groundcover that never gets out of hand, it spreads but only seems to fill the gaps rather than swamping it's neighbours! Short stems appear in March with clusters of small but bright flowers for several weeks unless it is too hot.
As with many woodland perennials this would prefer a good soil that never dries out in light shade but it is very tolerant and usually persists well in less than ideal conditions. Best out of the sun though.
From central and southern Europe.
