A hedge of Leyland. Cypress (X. Hesperotropsis leylandii [syns. Cupressus x leylandii, Cupressocyparis leylandii]), a hybrid between Hesperocyparis macrocarpa and Xanthocyparis nootkatensis, this 35m+ tree is a popular shelter plant that can be grown quite widely spaced or as a densely planted, closely trimmed hedge. As often happens, this hedge has reached the height where trimming the top has become difficult. Order: Pinales, Family: Cupressaceae
