Flowers slightly bigger than those of V. arvensis and often with some blue on the upper petals. (Viola x contempta)

This is a common hybrid between Viola arvensis and Viola tricolor.

It only occurs where at least one of the parents lives. If you canot find any of the parents the plant you have may be a rather big an colourfull variety of V. arvensis or a small yellowish V. tricolor.
-Plants growing in dry coastal dunes with usually lilac flower are very likely V. curtisii
-Plants growing on zinc poluted soil with usually bright yellow flowers are likely V lutea subsp. calaminaria
