Found in Tanzania, Malawi and Zambia in stunted high elevation Brachystegia forests and on scattered trees in grasslands at elevations of 1360 to 2100 meters as a small sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with an erect, short stem enveloped completely by imbricate, leaf sheaths carrying 2 to 4, stiff, tightl;y conduplicate, linear, obtuse leaves that blooms in the later spring on 1 to 2, axillary, below the leaves, to 4" [10 cm] long, to 10 flowered inflorescnece
