Common Name The Sparse Blooming Satyrium

Found in Tanzania, Malawi, Angola, Zambia and Zimbabwe in montane grasslands in tussocky grass among boulders and in dambos at elevations of 1120 to 2100 meters as a miniature to small sized, warm to cold growing terrestrial with ovoid, woolly tubers giving rise to an erect, slender stem carrying 5 to 6, the lowest 2 sheath-like, the next 2, near the base but not adpressed to the growund, relatively large, spreading to erect, ovate, acute, sometimes with one withered at blooming, the upper ones grading smaller and bract-like leaves that blooms in the spring on a terminal, erect, 1.6 to 3.2" [4 to 8 cm] long, laxly to fairly densely 3 to 15 flowered inflorescence
