Common Name or Meaning The Scented Satyrium

Found in southwestern Cape Provine South Africa in the shelter of rocks and bushes in sandy soils at elevations around 30 to 800 meters as a medium to large sized, cold growing terrestrial with 2 to 6 spreading, fleshy, ovate to narrowly ovate, gradual to abrupt transition to sheathing leaves above that blooms in the spring on an erect, terminal, to 20" [50 cm] long, 2 to 45 flowered inflorescence with recurved, large, lanceolate, acute floral bracts and carrying non-resupinate, clove to lemon scented flowers
