Common Name Kassner's Habenaria

Flower Size 2 3/4" [7 cm] wide 6" [15 cm] long

Found in Zaire, Tanzania and Zambia in dambos and flooded grasslands at elevations 1140 to 1500 meters as a medium sized, cool growing terrestrial with an ovoid to globose, densely tomentose tuber giving rise to an erect, leafy stem carrying 6 to 8, lowermost sheath-like, the middle ones semi-erect to recurved, the largest ovate to lanceolate leaves that blooms in the earlier summer on a terminal, erect, 1.6 to 4" [4 to 10 cm] long, 6.2 to 6.8" [16 to 17 cm] wide, laxly 2 to 6 flowered inflorescence with as long to shorter than the nearly horizontal ovary and pedicel, floral bracts and carrying night fragrant, spreading white to cream colored flowers
