Saltmeadow Rush is found in salt and brackish marshes along the Chesapeake Bay and Coastal Bays. Saltmeadow Rush is another plant that has been moving inland from its native marsh habitats due to extensive use of salt treated road systems. Most interior populations of Saltmeadow Rush are considered adventive and non-native.
Saltmeadow Rush grows erect and has long rhizomes. It is most often found in tight colonies above the high tide mark.
Check open roadsides through salt marsh habitats. Saltmeadow Rush can be found growing along the roadside of Elliott Island Road in Dorchester County.
