This highly ornamental WA native Leptospermum grows with an upright habit as a shrub to 3m tall with silvery grey obovate leaves to 2cm long that are covered with soft hairs, the beautiful flowers are pink and 2.5cm in diameter occurring from Winter to Spring but flowering is really dependent on rainfall. 
 
Leptospermum sericeum does not do well in areas with high humidity or in the subtropics and needs excellent drainage and a full sun position.
Grows naturally on or near coastal rocky outcrops, the soft hairs on the foliage protect the leaves from salt spray so is a great option for dry coastal areas.
 
This is a low maintenance Leptospermum that is highly ornamental having a beautiful contrast between the foliage and flowers, makes a great garden addition as a bushy hedge, screen or feature plant.
