Did you know❓ Found in parts of Kenya, South Africa and Madagascar, the Coleochloa setifera plant is harvested for its use in brooms as the bristles. They are often used and sold locally into markets that reach local towns and cities. 🌱🌍 In this picture, we see women carrying leaves of the Coleochloa setifera in Mount Mulanje, Malawi. Although not a globally threatened species, population pressures, overexploitation of the mountain resources and invasive species are causing issues in habitats where these plants grow. Learn more about the plant and the state of useful plants in our latest report with Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew: https://lnkd.in/dMwmqd5D Photo and content credit: Alex Hudson (contributing author of the paper 'The global distribution of plants used by humans')
