_ Our Latest Paper (IF 3.1). _ In this study, tissue cultural technology was effectively implemented for development of an amenable regeneration protocol for mass multiplication and secondary metabolite extraction in T. stans using shoot tip explants. The study based on interactive effects of an aromatic cytokinin (mT) with auxin NAA yielded excellent shoot proliferation. The micropropagated plants grew well during field transfer and no somaclonal variations were observed among in vitro raised progenies as evaluated by RAPD (OPC) markers. On phytochemical comparison, the in vitro regenerated progenies appeared to be superior for yielding higher diversity of secondary metabolites. The established protocol would be helpful for its sustainable exploitation and clonal production of other valuable species especially for rare and phyto-chemically elite genotypes._
