☆ ✍ HEALING POWER AND DANGEROUS BEAUTY . Impression from the "Petite Provence" near Detmold (NvT-photo). 1) Meanwhile, the ancient medicinal plant Lavandula angustifolia is an approved drug, used mainly for inner restlessness, nervous exhaustion, but also for sleep disorders, as well as for the supportive treatment of anxiety disorders. The successful effect of the essential oil in the flowers of lavender has been confirmed in numerous scientific studies. Its calming and relaxing effect mainly helps to relieve anxiety, to better cope with stress, to promote relaxation, to improve sleep disorders or to counteract stress-related inner restlessness. 2) Lavender is joined in my photo by an "invader" that also has a pharmaceutical effect: the weakly toxic Hypericum. Similar is the very toxic neophyte Senecio which today spreads in fields, pastures and wastelands (Jacobaea vulgaris, Syn.: Senecio jacobaea). It contains liver-damaging pyrrolizidine alkaloids in all parts - its occurrence on cattle pastures is very problematic. Unlike other poisons, the alkaloids remain effective when preserved in hay or silage and are thus also ingested by grazing animals, which actually avoid the herbs, which taste bitter when fresh. Even small doses permanently damage the liver, so that gradual poisoning is possible over years. Especially in horses, but also in cattle, the herb can cause serious illness and eventually death. A lethal dose for horses is 40 to 80 grams of fresh plant per kilogram of body weight, for cattle 140 grams - while rabbits and other rodents prove resistant to oral ingestion. Even guinea pigs survive a dose that would be dangerous for a cow. #niklasvanthorn #photosophie #licht_gedichte #Lavendelfelder #Jakobs_Kreuzkraut #neophyten #Lavandula #Jacobaea #Senecio #Heilpflanzen #Giftpflanzen #Duftgärten #Gartenträume #medizin #gifte #Pharmazie #Schönheit #art_of_living
