Product Description
Iris tuberosa has lanced shaped glaucous leaves that will appear first. The flower-heads are a fresh yellow-green that sports a rich maroon that nears black on their recurving tepals. It has a delicate fragrance that will increase in sunshine or a warm room making it in irresistible cut flower (we recommend you plant more than you need in a garden for this reason). A native of the Mediterranean, it's amongst the most hardy and accommodating plants, flourishing everywhere in the country in almost any condition. Will naturalise well in grassy areas but is at its best featured in rockeries or pots in a sunny location. Height 35cm. Flowers March/April. Top size bulbs supplied.

Growing at a glance…
Bulbs are to be planted 8cm deep and about 10-12cm apart, in well-drained soil. Ensure the bulbs are planted somewhere that has plenty of access to sun. For best results, plant your Iris bulbs from mid to late autumn to then see them flower in early spring or mid-summer. Take some care to prevent slugs and snails from attacking the iris once planted. Most Dutch iris are only suitable for planting in the garden or in a cool greenhouse or a cold frame.
