"Abstract
The taxonomy of Monopsis simplex and M. debilis is revised. Their typification is clarified and the misinterpretation of the name M. simplex by previous authors is discussed. A new species of Monopsis related to M. simplex is described. It occurs in the mountains of the southern Cape Province of South Africa. Within M. debilis three varieties are recognized and two new varietal combinations are made. Diagnostic descriptions of the taxa are given and their relationships with other species of the genus are discussed. Three hundred and forty herbarium specimens were examined, representing 234 separate collections."
